On the cusp of her 15th birthday Freya is a normal village girl who has never thought much of the outside world beyond her High Country. Life is comfortable if unexciting. Her family is from the Volung lineage.

With her upcoming coming-of-age ceremony tomorrow she will join adulthood and begin studying as a wood-shaper. Both of her parents are master wood shaping craftspeople. On the eve of her ceremony, a series of events occur which thrust Freya into an unwelcome role and give her a choice - will she save the world?.
